Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People Announced

Barbara Walters released her annual "The 10 Most Fascinating People" list yesterday, a list that is culled from entertainers, sports figures and those engaged in world affairs. The list was an interesting and diverse one and includes Betty White, Justin Bieber, Sandra Bullock, LeBron James, Sarah Palin, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Middleton, the entire cast of "Jersey Shore" and two yet-to-be-disclosed famous people. Those two names, per usual, will be kept secret until an ABC News special airs. This year, that will take place at 10 P.M. EST on December 9.

This is the 19th year that Walters has presented the list, and this year she will also do a companion piece that begins one hour before the ABC special. She will hosting "Oprah, The Next Chapter" at 9 P.M. on the same evening. Says Walters, "I interviewed her in 1988, when she was first becoming very popular. She and I consider this latest interview our coming full circle. This is an interview about Oprah’s life at this turning point"

Walters also acknowledged that she has very little familiarity with the cast of the Jersey Shore, and does not watch the show very often. Still, she recognized the group’s popularity, even if its just as the butt of jokes. Said Walters of the cast, "They were all on very good behavior and very well dressed, and they’ve all got big plans for the future. And they taught me their language, none of which I need to know." Interesting point – does the Jersey Shore cast speak a different language? Not quite, but it’s pretty close.
