Piano has been played by many top pianist in the world for over 500 years. The masters of piano music have been playing this beautiful musical instrument for a very young age. This has helped them blossom there talent and made them the top pianists in the world. Many people around the world play the piano, some tend to be just fair, some mediocre and some really talented. Ludwig Van Beethoven - (1770 – 1827): A German composer and pianist, Beethoven was the top pianist in the world during the transition period between Classical and Romantic eras. He is known as one of the greatest pianist of all time, as he lost his hearing sense at a young age of 26 and yet continued to play and compose even after this tragedy. Wolfgang Mozart - (1756 – 1791): You won't find a single soul with little knowledge of music, who won't agree that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was indeed one of the top pianist in the world. Mozart has composed over 600 works. All of his works are known to be the pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, piano, operatic and choral music. Fedrick Chopin - (1810 – 1849): Chopin was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist. He was one of the top pianists of all times in Romantic music. His works are mostly played by young piano students, as they are very easy to learn. He too was a child prodigy and who is often compared to Mozart.

Alfred Cortot - (1877 – 1962): He was a Franco-Swiss pianist and conductor. He became one of the most famous pianist of the 20th century. He is known for his poetic insight on the Romantic period piano works. He is especially known for his piano recordings and variations of Chopin, Brahms, Liazt and Schumann.

Walter Wilhelm Gieseking - (1895 – 1956): He was a German pianist and composer. He was not only one of the top pianist of all times, but a unique talent. He is said to have never practised on a piano and just sit for hours on end in complete silence. He would play the songs in his mind and perform the piece flawlessly.

Valdinir Horowitz - (1903 – 1989): Horowitz was a Russian American classical virtuoso pianist. He remains known for his technique and use of tone color. He studied under Felix Blumenfeld and Sergei Tarnowsky. He could play strong pieces creatively and is known as one of the most famous pianist of 20th century.

Josef Hoffmann - (1876 – 1957): Hofmann was a Polish American virtuosos pianist, composer and even an inventor. He gave his first concert at the age of 6 and by the age of 12 he was the first recorded musician. He worked with Thomas Edison to create the first musical recordings, thus making him one of famous pianists of all time.

Sergei Rachmaninoff - (1873 – 1943): Rachmaninoff was an American composer, pianist and conductor. He was the last most famous pianist and representative of Russia's late Romanticism in classical music. He had the largest hands compared to all the famous pianists of all time. He could span up to 14 notes at a time. He made use of his ability and came up with famous compositions like Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, 8 Preludes, etc.

Franz Liszt - (1811 – 1886): He was a Hungarian composer and virtuosos pianist. He was not only one of the famous pianists, but also known to play many other musical instruments like the cello.

Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli – (1920 – 1995): He was an Italian classical pianist who began playing from the age of 3. He first played the violin, but soon dropped it to play the piano. He was the master of perfection and even his recordings were absolutely perfect, even before editing. He, however, randomly canceled concerts. He put so much attention in the minute details that he would often lose the focus on bigger picture.
