Iced Coffee Calories

Iced coffee is a popular summer drink which goes well with anything you eat and even by itself. So as the summer - and with it the prospect of a few iced coffees – approaches you might want to know about iced coffee calories. Are iced coffee calories going to sink the ship on your low cal diet plan? Read on to know about the calories in coffee.

Calories in Iced Coffee

Iced coffee calories depend a lot on the ingredients used to make coffee. If you ever go to dedicated coffee houses like Starbucks, you will find a wide variety of iced caffeine kickers for you to choose from. The calories in iced coffee depend on the amount of sugar in it, whether or not the coffee has cream, whether the coffee uses normal milk or skim milk and if there are any additional flavorings to the coffee. Additional flavors in the coffee are often sugar syrup based and will add more calories to your iced coffee. So based on this fairly basic knowledge, let's move on to the iced coffee calories in the several different preparations of iced coffee.

Calories in Iced Coffee with Skim Milk
As frugal as it can be, a 16 fl.oz. cup of iced coffee and skim milk will give you only 25 calories. Iced coffee with skim milk is quite the guilt-free iced coffee, skim milk and coffee bean only, owing to its low calorie content! The fats are also quite negligible and the 4 g of carbohydrates can be burned off in a breeze. So it is quite safe to dunk into one of these iced coffees with skim milk once in a while even if you're on a weight loss diet.

Calories in Iced Coffee with Skim Milk and Sugar
Oh yes, the previous beverage had not a hint of sugar. But if you do feel that an iced coffee without a spoonful of sugar will simply not do, the best option you have is the iced coffee with skim milk and sugar. But beware, the calorie content increases by more than just a spoonful. Spooning in the sugar adds a lot more carbohydrates to your coffee and therefore a lot more calories. The calories in the same 16 fl.oz. jump up to 70 and the carbohydrates go up to 16 g.

Skim milk just doesn't do it for some of us. So much so to the extent that people are ready to rid themselves off the skim milk even if it means having a few extra calories in return. So how much is the calorific trade off between a sugar-free iced coffee with skim milk and the sugar-free iced coffee with normal milk? A measly 5 calories! So if you're adamant on your milk, there isn't really much to lose. 5 calories and the extra almost-1 g of fat is a fair price to pay!

But then wouldn't you love to have your cake and eat it too? Let's have it. Milk AND sugar. Because a sugar-free coffee can be really bitter and you wouldn't touch skim milk with a bargepole. How much are the iced coffee calories now? 80 calories. Still won't hurt the diet if consumed once in a while, but I warn you, you might be pushing it a bit...

Calories in Iced Coffee with Cream and Sugar
It's an absolute bonanza this one. Calories be damned, this drink is one for those on the weight-gain diet, if there was one. I'm kidding of course. But iced coffee with cream and sugar is truly the embodiment of luxurious beverage consumption. 120 calories in your 16 fl.oz cup. With 6 g of fat of which 3.5 g are saturated. Few can afford to spoil themselves this way!

So this was all about the iced coffee calories. Remember, the equation really depends mainly on the ingredients you use. Use frugal caloried ingredients and suddenly your drink is low-cal and suitable for your diet.
